Google Forms is a Google App that can be used to create forms and surveys to collect student data. You can add in different question types, images, videos, or links. There is also a self-grading quiz activated by hitting the settings gear at the top right, choosing quizzes, and selecting “make this a quiz.” You can view the responses from inside the form builder by clicking on the Response tab at the top of the form. You can also export the responses to a Google Sheet by clicking the green Sheets icon at the top right, or choosing to download them in a .csv format.

Science NetLinks is a dynamic Website connecting K-12 teachers, students, and families to STEM resources produced by the American Association for the Advancement of Science including lesson plans, interactives, and reviewed Internet resources. The lesson plan and tool databases are searchable by grade level, themes, and content area.

Formative is an online tool that offers the opportunity to create assignments, deliver them to students, receive results, and provide individualized feedback in real-time. Use the platform to create new and original assignments for students, or upload pre-existing documents and turn them into paperless assignments. Options include multiple-choice questions, short response, illustrated response, or uploaded images/documents.

This site gamifies and enlivens quizzes. The upbeat environment allows for optional music, immediate feedback, timers, and fun memes. You can create your own quizzes or borrow and modify from an extensive bank of existing quizzes. After students take quizzes, you can view and download results to Excel. Use Quizizz for formative assessments, checking for understanding, and exit tickets. Note that all questions are multiple choice.

Kahoot is a game-based classroom response system that can be played by the whole class in real time. Using a simple drag and drop feature, instructors can create multiple-choice quizzes, discussion, or surveys which can be embedded with images, text, or video. Questions are projected on the screen, and students answer with any device. 

Formative assessments through quizzes (multiple choice, True/False, and short answer) or quick question polls for up to 50 students per session. Quizzes can be instantly graded and aggregated. Also, up to 20 students can play the "Space Race." 

A quick way to create your own gameshow-style boards (e.g. Jeopardy) for test reviews in the classroom. Text-based questions are displayed on-screen and boards are saved for later use. You can create up to 6 categories, with 5 questions per category. Up to 10 teams can participate. Each question is worth a different amount of points, from 100 points to 500 points.

TEDEd allows educators to create and share lessons built around YouTube videos. The embedded lesson creator allows users to 1) FIND video content through an integrated search panel, 2) SELECT a video or lesson to be customized, and 3) FLIP a video by adding questions, notes, and content. The TEDEd library is continually growing and is searchable and browsable by series and subject. Mostly for grades K-12.

Gooru is a free, educational search engine for online resources and lesson plans in science, math, social studies and language arts. Teachers and students can search for and curate collections of multimedia resources, digital textbooks, videos, handouts, games, and quizzes.

OER Commons offers a comprehensive infrastructure for curriculum experts and instructors at all levels to identify high-quality OER and collaborate around their adaptation, evaluation, and use to address the needs of teachers and learners. Searchable by keyword, subject, and material type, including activity, assessment, lesson, and teaching/learning strategy.

Interactive lesson planning tool for identifying the skills and competencies necessary for reading, writing and participating on the web. While it includes basic information evaluation, it goes a lot further to examine the unique aspects of information on the web (e.g. remixing, coding, web design, accessibility, open licensing, etc). There are also a lot of associated lessons that you can use. Many are oriented towards K-12, but the lessons can be remixed and are certainly relevant to higher ed.

The BEN Portal provides access to education resources from BEN Collaborators and is managed by the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). Over 20,601 reviewed resources covering 77 biological sciences topics are available. BEN resources can help you engage student interest, shorten lesson preparation time, provide concept updates, and develop curricula that are in line with national standards for content, use of animals and humans, and student safety.
