I am currently Instruction & Circulation Services Librarian at Menlo College. Menlo is a small, private 4 year institution graduating students in Business and Psychology.  Our Library has four fulltime and two part-time Librarians. Over the last year the focus of my job has shifted more towards teaching and information literacy activities. I have been involved in the recent redesign of our Research Skills tutorial, and the development of rubrics and assessment tools to be used to assess the extent to which seniors  demonstrate acquisition of targeted Learning Outcomes in Information Technology and Information Literacy as required by WASCUC, Menlo's accrediting body.

My BA is in Anthropology, I have an MA in International Studies, and I finished most of the coursework for a PhD in Oriental Languages before moving away from academia. China area studies and the Chinese language were the focus of my BA and MA. I went back to school to earn an MLIS in 2004 and after a few part time gigs, ended up at Menlo in the Fall of 2007 and have been here ever since. 

Working in a small school means that we all wear many hats. I oversee Circulation activities, supervise student workers, and fill the role of Instruction Coordinator. I teach one shot information literacy and research sessions for a wide variety of courses. In collaboration with two other Librarians, I am working  to develop materials for those courses. In addition to instruction and circulation duties, I select materials for the collection in the areas of anthropology, economics, education, history, and managment.
