Adapted for an Education and Public Good course. Switched out databases to include ERIC, Proquest, etc. and noted that legislative documents may be impactful depending on the topic.

I adapted this for an upper-level anthropology class of primarily juniors and seniors. There were only 9 students in the class, so I skipped the post-it note exercise at the start. There was enough time for each student to work on their own topic with a partner. I also skipped the Five Point Tour since most of the students were familiar with core library resources and our research guides.

Short Description

A two part instruction session that uses the "fish bowl" method, or students as instructors, to find scholarly sources and complete an annotated bibliography citation.

Learning Outcomes

In this session, students will: - find scholarly sources using the library catalog or discovery service -create a citation using a citation style -learn the parts of an annotated bibliography -create an annotated citation

This instruction session was created to support a Women and Gender Studies assignment that includes a 5-6 page paper on a topic related to race, sex, and gender and two annotated bibliographic citations of 100 words or less.

Thank you, Aisha, for sharing this assignment! I adapted and used it today, and it worked really well for a class of 9 students who were working on a 7-10 page research paper.
